Effective change control is essential in order to meet the expectations for the project and maintain steady progress toward a quality end deliverable. The following procedure defines the method for managing potential changes or modifications to the project, including without limitation, changes in objectives, scope, costs, and/or schedule. Project modifications can be the result of a formal change request or merely adjustments determined and recommended through regular project management activities.
For all modifications that affect objectives, scope, costs, and/or schedule, an impact analysis will be investigated. Change solutions or corrective actions will be determined. Each solution will be examined for its impact on the project and the estimate to complete it. Then, the appropriate alternative will be chosen.
Modifications to the scope of the project must be accounted for in one of three ways:
Based on the chosen solution, you and the ICE consultant and will authorize the change and modify project cost estimates, due dates, and resource commitments; reject the proposed Change Request; or defer the Change Request and document as an enhancement.
