OnSite Systems Administration

For many healthcare organizations, finding, keeping and even cost-justifying a full-time IT network administrator to maintain an effective network and its components can be challenging. The following systems administration tasks are part of the onsite service:

Ensure the latest version of virus protection software is installed and running and make certain the virus software is working and protecting all PCs/workstations, servers and e-mail.
Ensure normal completion of data backups, test data restoration procedures and validate tape content.
Check the integrity of server disk(s), reclaim drive space by deleting temporary files and directories, and anticipate storage issues before they become critical.
Check server operating system log files for any issues, review the security log, and check CPU and Memory utilization.
Delete any old Exchange/e-mail users and mailboxes, re-index and clean databases for best performance, and provide updates for performance security and user interface consistency.
Ensure that all PC/workstation operating system software is current, check start-up scripts for unnecessary programs and spyware, and apply necessary patches and security fixes.
Clean and test printers.
Provide ongoing security assessment by reviewing firewall log files for active or potential threats, updating firewall, router and switch firmware for latest protection, and reviewing network-wide adherence to the facility's Security Policy.
Test uninterrupted power supply battery backup, validate communication with servers and configuration for proper shut down, and monitor logs to see if there are any power issues that should be addressed.
