Information Technology Assessment
Opportunities exist for healthcare organizations to develop a long-term IT strategy, as well as to realize the tremendous benefits of technology, both financially and in the improvement and quality of patient care. ICE's IT assessment identifies the overall value, effectiveness and quality of IT in your facility and provides recommendations for applying technology to achieve your strategic goals.
How Does It Work?
ICE performs the assessment using hospital/clinic interviews, department visits, and system reviews. The majority of the information is gathered from hospital/clinic management and IT staff in order to ascertain the overall value and effectiveness of the existing IT solutions, and the support related to those systems. Individual interviews and department walkthroughs are conducted to provide a backdrop to the strategic issues and ongoing concerns, as well as to gain a deeper understanding of IT system usage, workflow processes, staff roles and skill levels, and IT support structure.
ICE's senior consultants will:
- Gather information on current IT initiatives and recommend best practices and strategies for moving forward.
- Leverage our experience with HIS vendors and third party vendor products in order to make recommendations for strategic prioritization, implementation and outcomes.
- Leverage our clinical expertise to advise the facility on best long-term strategies for implementing automation solutions and wired and wireless devices.
- Evaluate IT department structure, staff capabilities and internal processes to develop plans for aligning your budget, team and processes with industry best practices.
- Review budget priorities and work with IT and Administration in developing a timeline to apply the right dollars to the right projects in the right order.
- Evaluate overall systems usage to identify process improvement and cost optimization opportunities.
- Develop the initial groundwork for an IT plan and develop a roadmap for the implementation of the identified strategies.
Assessment Deliverable
Report findings are identified through interviews, observations and existing documentation and recommendations are based on current industry best practices. Recommended action items explain what technology and process changes are needed to achieve future IT strategic goals.
